Weather Forecast Calling for Snow in Northern Virginia

See what The Weather Channel says about the forecast for snow on Thursday: What are the chances? How much? And when will it fall?

FAIRFAX CITY, VA -- On Tuesday, Northern Virginia is seeing springlike temperatures in the 60s. But just weeks before the official start of spring, could Northern Virginia be in for another snowy blast from Old Man Winter?

Here’s the scoop from weather forecasters for what we might be in for on the weather front later this week:

  • The Weather Channel forecast for Fairfax is calling for a 70 percent chance of snow, predicting 1-3 inches Thursday night into Friday morning, with “steady snow likely after midnight.”
  • The National Weather Service says chances are 60 percent, with “snow likely, mainly after 10 p.m.” The weather service also predicts a 40 percent chance of snow Friday morning.
  • Capital Weather Gang says: “Snowfall totals are expected to be very light, but there is a chance for one to maybe 3 inches, with the highest chance for accumulation in the western to northwestern suburbs.”
