What's Open, Closed For Christmas Weekend 2022 In Fairfax City

FAIRFAX CITY, VA — Christmas is on a Sunday this year, meaning that most Fairfax City and Fairfax County offices will be closed on Monday, Dec. 26 to celebrate the holiday.

Fairfax County government will close at noon on Friday, Dec. 23 and remain closed through Monday, Dec. 26. Other services have schedule changes on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day or surrounding days.

Below are the openings and closures to know for the Christmas holiday around Fairfax City:

Fairfax City government offices: Closing at noon on Dec. 23, and closed through Dec. 26.

Fairfax Museum and Visitor Center: Closed Dec. 23-26.

Historic Blenheim: Closed Dec. 23-26.

Fairfax County government offices: Closing at noon on Dec. 23, and closed through Dec. 26.

Fairfax County Public Schools: Winter break is Dec. 19 to Jan. 2.

Courts: Fairfax County Circuit Court and General District Court will be closed Dec. 23 to 26. Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court will be closed Dec. 26.

Department of Motor Vehicles: All DMV customer service centers are closed Dec. 23 to 26.

Fairfax Connector: Fairfax Connector will have Sunday service on Dec. 25 and 26. For more information, visit www.fairfaxcounty.gov/connector.

Libraries: All Fairfax County Public Library locations will be open from 10 a.m. to noon on Dec. 23 and closed Dec. 24-26.

CUE Bus: Regular service provided on Dec. 23-24, but service ends at 7 p.m. on Dec. 24. No service on Dec. 25 and modified weekday service on Dec. 26.

Metro: Metrorail will be open 7 a.m. to 1 a.m. on Dec. 24, 7 a.m. to midnight on Dec. 25 and 7 a.m. to midnight on a Sunday holiday schedule on Dec. 26. Metrobus will be on a Sunday schedule on Dec. 26.

Post offices: Closed on Dec. 26.

Recreation centers: Fairfax County recreation centers are open regular hours on Dec. 23, open regular hours to noon on Dec. 24, closed on Dec. 25 and open regular hours on Dec. 26.

Trash and recycling: In Fairfax City, Friday route collected as usual, but Monday and Tuesday routes will be collected on Tuesday, Dec. 27. Fairfax County collection customers will not have collection services on Dec. 25. Private collection customers should check with their hauler for any changes.

Trash and recycling centers: The Recycling and Disposal Centers at the I-66 Transfer Station (4618 West Ox Road) and thew I-95 Landfill Complex (9850 Furnace Road) close at 1 p.m. on Dec. 24 and are closed Dec. 25.
