What's Open, Closed For Labor Day 2024 In Fairfax City
Here are the openings and closings to know for the Labor Day 2024 holiday in Fairfax City.
FAIRFAX CITY, VA — Labor Day weekend marks the unofficial last hurrah for summer as many families will head to beaches and other destinations or host backyard barbecues.
Labor Day falls on Monday, Sept. 2, when Fairfax City and Fairfax County government offices will be closed along with other services. Many students who have already started school will have a four-day weekend from Friday to Monday. Other services like transit will be open with schedule changes.

Here are the openings and closings to know in and around Fairfax City:
Fairfax City government offices: Closed Monday, Sept. 2.

Fairfax County government offices: Closed Monday, Sept. 2.
Fairfax County Public Schools: Closed Friday, Aug. 30 and Monday, Sept. 2.
Courts: The Fairfax County Circuit Court, General District Court and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court will be closed on Sept. 2.
Department of Motor Vehicles: All DMV customer service centers are closed on Labor Day.
Fairfax Museum & Visitor Center will be open on Monday, Sept. 2.
CUE Bus will operate on Monday, Sept. 2 with Saturday service.
Fairfax Connector: Fairfax Connector will be operating Sunday service on Monday, Sept. 2. Routes operating on Sundays are 101, 109, 151, 152, 161, 162, 171, 310, 321, 322, 371, 401, 402, 423, 463, 467, 558, 574, 605, 615, 630, 642, 651, 662, 672, 721, 803, 901, 921, 924, 937, 950, 952, 954, 983, RIBS 1, RIBS 2, RIBS 3, RIBS 4 and RIBS 5. Libraries: On Sept. 2, the Fairfax City Regional Library and other Fairfax County Public Library locations will be closed.
Metro: Metrorail will be open 7 a.m. to 1 a.m. Saturday and 7 a.m. to midnight Sunday and Monday.
Post offices: Closed on Sept. 2.
Recreation centers:All Fairfax County rec centers are open from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Colvin Run Mill and Sully Historic Sites will be closed, as well as the E.C. Lawrence, Hidden Oaks, Hidden Bond, and Huntley Meadows Nature Centers.
Trash and Recycling collection: Fairfax City refuse will not be collected on Monday, Sept. 2. Monday and Tuesday routes are collected on Tuesday, Sept. 3. Curbside yard waste collection delay possible Sept. 2-7.
Trash and recycling collection: Fairfax County collection customers will have regular collection services on Sept. 2. Private collection customers should check with their hauler for any changes.
Trash and recycling centers: The Recycling and Disposal Centers at the I-66 Transfer Station (4618 West Ox Road) and the I-95 Landfill Complex (9850 Furnace Road) are open on Sept. 2.
