Woman Fatally Shot In Fair Oaks; Husband Detained, Police Say

Fairfax County police are investigating a fatal shooting in Fair Oaks. A husband was detained, and police say there is no threat.

FAIR OAKS, VA — A woman was found fatally shot late Sunday night in the Fair Oaks area, and her husband has been detained as Fairfax County police investigate what authorities described as a domestic-related homicide.

Fairfax County police responded around 10:30 p.m. Sunday to a 911 call in the 12000 block of Washington Brice Road, where officers found an adult woman dead from what appeared to be gunshot wounds, Deputy Chief Brendan Hooke of the department's Major Crimes Bureau said during a news conference at the scene early Monday.

Police Say No Threat To Community

Hooke said investigators have detained a suspect and that there were no outstanding suspects following the shooting.

In an update posted to the Fairfax County Police Department's X account at 12:45 a.m. Monday, police said all parties had been accounted for and there was no threat to the community. Detectives continue to investigate.

Police have not released the identities of the victim or the detained individual, and no charges had been announced as of Monday morning.
