Fair Oaks Man's Murder Hearing Set After Wife's Fatal Shooting

FAIR OAKS, VA — A Fair Oaks man charged with fatally shooting his wife is being held without bond, and a Fairfax County Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court judge has scheduled his preliminary hearing for Aug. 18.

Leland McKnight Jameson, 64, faces charges of second-degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony in connection with the death of his wife, 60-year-old Chisen Jameson. Court records show Jameson remains in custody following his arrest Monday.

Fairfax County police said officers responded at 10:21 p.m. Sunday to the 12000 block of Washington Brice Road after a Department of Public Safety Communications call taker heard sounds consistent with a disturbance before the call disconnected. A second 911 call was received at 10:39 p.m.

Officers found Chisen Jameson inside the home suffering from gunshot wounds to her upper body. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Detectives said their preliminary investigation determined Leland Jameson fatally shot his wife inside the residence before taking him into custody.

Preliminary Hearing Scheduled For Aug. 18

According to Fairfax County court records, Jameson was arraigned Monday morning. The arraignment was continued, and a preliminary hearing on both felony charges is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Aug. 18 in Courtroom 3F of the Fairfax County Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court.

The court records identify the charges as second-degree murder under Virginia Code § 18.2-32 and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony under Virginia Code § 18.2-53.1. Both charges stem from the July 12 incident.

Investigation Continues

Detectives continue interviewing witnesses and processing evidence recovered from the home to determine the circumstances leading up to the fatal shooting, according to Fairfax County police.
