Woodson’s girls lacrosse team upped its Patriot District record to 2–0 on Tuesday night on the road with a 17–5 win over T.C. Williams in Alexandria.
After a tight first 10 minutes of play, the Cavaliers used a well-balanced offense and aggressive defense to dominate both sides of the field and pull away from the Titans for the decisive win.
Woodson was led on offense by seniors Grace Finnerty and Elena Obregon who helped control the game’s tempo and distribute scoring chances. Woodson also welcomed back midfielder junior Laura Dunn who is slowly working her way back into the lineup after an injury. The Cavaliers’ offense featured strong play from senior Leah Williamson and junior DeeDee Montgomery, and scoring from several younger players including sophomores Alex Lightfoot and Kelly Stegner, and freshmen Isabel Obregon and Jasmine Kim.

The star of the night for Woodson was senior goalie Victoria Vinall, who stifled the Titans’ offense in the second half. Vinall received help from a number of defenders who are learning to play together as a group. Seniors Ali Kiviat and Morgan Willard, and juniors Meghan Smiga and Katie Hayes led Woodson’s defensive effort on the night.
The Titans were led by the all-around strong play of midfielders senior Tiana Barlow and sophomore Allegra Benites.
