World Police & Fire Games International Federation Visits Fairfax in Preparation for 2015 Games
FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA (April 21, 2014) – Eleven delegates from the California Police Athletic Federation, the global parent organization of the World Police & Fire Games, visited Fairfax County last month to get an early look at the preparations now underway for next summer’s competition, in which 12,000 public safety athletes from across the globe will compete in 61 different athletic events.
Tours of hotels, athletic venues, travel and tourism attractions, a handful of special events and individual meetings with sports coordinators, program facilitators and future hosts filled the schedules of these representatives who are responsible for ensuring a successful experience when the Games unfold in and around Fairfax County June 26 through July 5, 2015.
“This visit is an opportunity for our team to review plans and gain insight from the Federation Directors who each bring expertise to various components of the planning process,” said Bill Knight, President and CEO of Fairfax 2015, the non-profit host organization responsible for administering the Games. “Many elements of 2015 Games program remain in development, but we are pleased for the opportunity to show how far we’ve come and to reconfirm our plans.”
