World Police and Fire Games lots of Smiles

The games were a blast!

With many things to do the World Police and Fire Games was amazing. It was at Fairfax County and the surrounding area. The teams were full of spirit and the audiences cheering like crazy. There were about 10,000 firefighters and police from around 60 countries competing at over 60 sporting events.

Some of the competitors that we got to meet and share card with were from United States, Russia, Wales, Brazil, Spain, Israel, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong, Croatia, South Africa, Australia, Iceland, Norway, Netherlands, Germany, Mexico, Canada, Phillippines, China, Italy, Denmark, Ireland, India, Puerto Rico, United Kingdom, England, Belguim, Switzerland, Austria, France, Japan, Luxembourg, Trinidad and Tobago, Poland, Scotland, Latvia, Turkey, Finland, and Uraguay.

Even though they didn’t all speak the same language, they all knew how to smile! It was neat just being able to greet the players without much security over them, even though they might be security forces themselves, in other countries. The games lit the fire of having fun, while they were here!

Some of the best events to watch were boxing, hockey, tug of war, and shooting. It was a great week hosting these heroes from around the world, and if you want to go to the next World Police and Fire Games it’s in Montreal, Canada in 2017.
