Ed Miller has been hailed as "one of the finest singers to come out of the Scottish Folksong Revival" and as "one of Scotland's best singing exports." Originally from Edinburgh, Scotland, Ed knows Scottish folk music from the “inside-out;” he combines a Ph.D. in Folklore with an encyclopedic knowledge of the Scottish physical and cultural landscape.
Ed’s career spans 40 years. During that time, Ed, who now lives in Austin, Texas, has recorded 10 CDs of Scottish songs on his own “Wellfield” label, and has established himself as an authority on Scottish song and the British Folk Music Revival. He is a regular instructor and performer at the Swannanoa Gathering in North Carolina, the North Texas Irish Festival in Dallas, Texas and the Pleasanton Highland Games, in San Francisco, California, and has been featured at innumerable festivals and Burns suppers. He is the owner-operator of Wellfield Tours; he leads tours to Scotland that introduce participants to the heartland of Scottish music. He is also a radio personality, the host of "Across the Water" on Austin's NPR station, KUT-FM.
Ed’s performances combine his mellow, baritone voice, captivating guitar style and humorous delivery with his exacting scholarship and deep insight and love for his material. It’s a combination that few can resist!
