Bagels, Bangles And Bulls: New Businesses Bring Food And Finery To Vienna

Several new restaurants and a jewelry shop are just some of the businesses opening in Vienna this spring.

VIENNA, VA – New businesses are springing up in Vienna this season, bringing residents new options for bakes, steaks and baubles.

Here’s a roundup of businesses with that have opened in April or are coming soon.

Bagel Street: This family-owned cafe had its grand opening in early April and has been earning accolades ever since. Their menu directs diners down Breakfast Boulevard, around Bagel Circle, over to Coffee Drive, into the Chips District and more.

Owners Jenny Liu and husband Julio Santana told Fairfax Girl their menu incorporates elements from both heritages, with Chinese flavors like seaweed, miso and Chinese sausage and Dominican flavors like fried cheese and Dominican salami. Bagel Street has been earning accolades since it opened and has already gotten involved with neighborhood nonprofit One Neighborhood Foundation to support local communities. Bakeshop: Local cake kingpins Bakeshop are set to open a new shop in Vienna, joining locations in Arlington, Great Falls and Georgetown. The batter boys’ various locations have won Best Bakery awards for many of the past 10 years, and their chocolate chip cookies were called best in the state in 2022 in Yelp’s official blog.

Their opening was originally set for early April but has hit some delays, so stay tuned! Check them out at 421 Maple Avenue East soon.

Kin Espresso: Simplicity, imperfection and calm – Kin Espresso will translate this into slow matcha and good coffee in Vienna in May. The coffee shop promises traditional matcha rituals and a warm and intentional hospitality. Vienna caffeine hunters are already on tenterhooks, if social media comments are to be believed.

Electric Bull: This steakhouse and butcher’s counter caters to carnivores who might want to try at home what they can order at the restaurant. The new outlet by Chef Victor Albisu, previously seen at DC’s Del Campo and currently at Taco Bamba restaurants around the region, offers his take on the neighborhood grill culture of Argentina and Uruguay. Guests' appetites might be whetted by the news that Albisu recently won a Food Network sponsored grilling competition.

The butcher’s counter aims to offer dry-aged steaks and South American cuts, charcuterie and house made sausages, as well as rubs and condiments for the home grillmaster. Electric Bull says it will have an opening date in the next few weeks. Find them at 176 Maple Avenue West soon.

Gem Park: Trying to prove Vienna can have nice things is Gem Park, which offers fine stone jewelry, engagement rings, custom designs, and fashion jewelry for everyday occasions. Owner Jamie Park-Jung says “My design approach is rooted in clean lines and architectural sensibility with unexpected details. I create pieces that are beautiful but made to be worn every day. With quality gemstones and ethically sourced metal, our fine jewelry is built to last a lifetime.”
