Male, 14, charged with two counts of abduction, one count of sexual assault and one count of simple assault.

The City of Falls Church Police Department has apprehended a suspect after an assault of a juvenile. The male 14 year-old suspect is charged with two counts of Abduction, one count of Sexual Assault, and one count of Simple Assault. The suspect is being held in a juvenile detention facility.
On Friday, Aug. 29, at about 9:30 p.m., officers responded to Cherry Hill Park (312 Park Ave.). The victim, an 8 year old female, stated she was physically and sexually assaulted by the same 14 year old male on two occasions that evening. The first incident was interrupted by an adult; the suspect ran away, but soon after returned and assaulted the girl again. The victim called out and nearby adults approached the suspect. The suspect ran away again, but was pointed out to the responding officers, and then apprehended.
The incident occurred during a community event in the park. “This is an isolated event,” said Capt. Richard Campbell. “We thank the adults who acted on a situation that seemed suspicious.”
