Falls Church Is Second Best Place To Retire In Virginia: Report

FALLS CHURCH, VA—Falls Church isn't a stranger to top places to live in Virginia rankings due to factors like quality schools and proximity to DC and other attractions. A new ranking suggests it's also the ideal spot to retire.

SmartAsset, a financial planning website, ranked Falls Church the second best place to live in Virginia. The site compiled places that not only offer parks, healthcare access, retirement-based recreation centers and other attractions for retirees to enjoy, but financial benefits for retirees to get the most out of retirement income and savings.

The state overall is tax-friendly for retirees, especially since Social Security benefits aren't taxed. "Though the state is generally a good place for retirees to put down stakes, some locations are better than others," the study stated.

The study is likely referring to the greater Falls Church area—it touts 55 retiree communities. Other perks include a city feel with easy access to outdoor parks and golf courses.
