Four Residents Displaced After Falls Church Area Townhouse Fire

Fairfax County Fire and Rescue says damage is estimated at $37,500.

Firefighters responded to a townhouse fire Saturday afternoon in the Falls Church area of Fairfax County, according to the fire department.The single-family home is located in the 2100 block of Dominion Heights Court.

Firefighters encountered smoke and fire coming from the top floor of the two-story, middle unit townhome upon arrival, the fire department said.

Firefighters extinguished the fire in approximately 10 minutes, the department noted. Sounding smoke alarms alerted the occupants, allowing them to escape unharmed, the department said. The four occupants have been displaced and will receive Red Cross support.

Damage is estimated at $37,500, the fire department said.

According to fire investigators, the fire was accidental. An electrical converter box placed too close to combustibles caused the fire, according to the fire department.
