Have you seen a cute orange tabby cat?

Sunny the teenaged cat scooted off at around 4 p.m. Nov. 29. No one has seen him since.

Sunny, a 7-month-old yellow boy, scooted out at about 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, at the corner of Tod Street and Stuart Place just west of the Falls Church boundary with Fairfax County.

The teenaged cat is neutered and was wearing a light blue breakaway collar with our name and address on the tag when he disappeared. He also has a microchip.

(Oh, how I wish those chips had the capability of the Find-My-iPhone app. But a veterinarian or animal shelter has to scan for it using something more like the hand-held scanners at Giant.)

Sunny, at about 5 months old in the photo, has white paws and white markings on his chest and face, is 8 or 9 inches at the shoulders and has light brown eyes. He’s a fairly small cat, so he could probably squeeze under some gates and between some fence slats.

He’s generally friendly -- when we watch TV, he loves to curl up on our lap and purr -- but he’s been out for almost 6 nights now in sometimes below-freezing weather, so we don’t know how that might affect him.

We’ve had possible sightings in two different directions from our house: at Stuart Place and Allan Avenue and also on Poplar Street east of South West Street.

But I have not heard about any other leads since Monday. I’ve been putting fliers in people’s doors in an ever-expanding radius. Falls Church police and Fairfax County Animal Services have been notified.

If you see a yellow or orange tabby cat, sometimes called a ginger cat -- even if you can’t corral him -- I would appreciate a call at 703-623-3344. He is missed very much, and I’m very worried.
