Police Charge Falls Church-Area Woman with Arson

Police say she forced her way into a man's apartment Monday night and lit some of his property on fire. She faces other charges as well.

A Falls Church-area woman faces multiple charges, including arson, after an incident at a Fairfax County apartment Monday night, according to the Fairfax County Police Department.

Police say the suspect, Evelyn E. Rodriguez, 26, was in a stairwell at an apartment building Monday night at about 8:47 p.m. when she forced her way into a man’s apartment, at 7600 Broadway Drive, near Lee Highway and Fairwood Lane. Police did not say if she knew the man.

While in the apartment, police say Rodriguez lit the victim’s property on fire. The resident left the residence and called police from a neighbor’s home, according to police. Officers located and arrested the suspect, FCPD said.

Rodriguez was charged with arson of an occupied dwelling, burglary, interrupting a 911 call, and two counts of assault on law enforcement, according to Fairfax County Police.
