Police Seek Information in Armed Robbery of Smashburger in Falls Church

Suspect made off with cash after he hit employee on the head and implied he had a gun, police said.

At about 10:45 p.m. on Friday, City of Falls Church Police responded to a call for an armed robbery at a business at 308 S. Washington St., according to an alert sent out Saturday morning from the police department.

The address is a Smashburger restaurant.

The suspect entered the business, which was closed, hit an employee on the head, implied he had a gun, and demanded money, police said. The suspect fled the store after he was given cash, according to police.

The closing hours for the restaurant are listed as 10 p.m. Police did not say how the suspect got into the restaurant or if he was a customer. No word Saturday morning if any security cameras were in operation and if so, if they picked up images of the suspect.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic or black male, about 6’ tall, skinny, and wearing blue jeans and a black button-up sweatshirt with a hood.
