The Power of Virginia Women in Politics

CLIFTON, VA, March 13, 2016 - The Republican Women of Clifton (RWC) welcomes member Martha Boneta to present on The Power of Virginia Women in Politics and Dr. Kimberly Mehlman-Orozco on human trafficking at its March meeting. The event will take place Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at Fairview Elementary School, 5815 Ox Road, Fairfax Station. The social half-hour will begin at 7 pm; presentation to follow at 7:30 pm.

Martha Boneta, owner of Liberty Farm in Paris, Virginia is a staunch protector of property rights, having fought back against harassment and egregious litigation by Loudoun County and the Piedmont Environmental Council. Boneta has two bills named after her in the Virginia General Assembly, Boneta Bill I and II resulting from her fight to preserve the rights of small farmers in the Commonwealth. Her documentary, Farming in Fear, earned the People’s CHOICE award at the Anthem Film Festival and recently was shown at the Conservative Political Action Conference. “Don’t miss this opportunity to hear and learn from Martha Boneta’s presentation, The Power of Virginia Women in Politics,” commented RWC President Bonnie Burkhardt.

Dr. Mehlman-Orozco will provide her insights and expertise on human trafficking in our local communities. She has a PhD in Criminology, Law and Society from George Mason University and serves on the steering committee of the Greater Prince William County Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force and on the Board of Directors for the Justitia Institute, an anti-trafficking, immigration and social justice research non-profit. Mehlman-Orozco has been interviewed by a number of media outlets including USA Today and is a subject matter expert.

Attendees are invited to contribute $5 at the door for the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors of our fallen heroes, a 2016 RWC charity partner.
