Fredericksburg Cop Won't Face Charges In Shooting
No charges will be brought against the Fredericksburg cop who shot a man attacking him with a box cutter: Commonwealth's Attorney.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA—No charges will be brought against the Fredericksburg cop who shot a man attacking him with a box cutter July 23. Fredericksburg Commonwealth's Attorney LaBravia Jenkins announced Friday the officer's actions were "appropriate in the circumstances," after reviewing a Virginia State Police investigation report.
City police had asked state police to investigate the incident. Shortly after 5:30 p.m., Fredericksburg Police received a 911 call regarding a domestic disturbance. One of its officers went to the residence, and Joseph L. Jackson attacked him with a box cutter before being shot in self defense. Jackson was found shortly before 10 p.m. near the intersection of Route 3 (Blue Gray Parkway) and Route 2 (Dixon Street) and arrested.
Jackson was charged with one felony count of Attempted Capital Murder of a Police Officer and remains held without bond.
