Fredericksburg Man Arrested In Fatal Hit And Run: Police

The suspect was arraigned Monday in Spotsylvania General District Court where he was held on no bond.

FREDERICKSBURG, VA — The Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office arrested a Fredericksburg man for a fatal hit and run that occurred Oct.26 on Courthouse Road in Spotsylvania County. Christopher Anthony Dickerson, 32, was arrested and charged with felony hit and run in the death of Deven P. Morgan, 41, of Fredericksburg.

Spotsylvania investigators obtained several search warrants for Dickerson’s vehicle and home. Key pieces of evidence, according to the sheriff's office, were recovered that led to Dickerson's arrest. Additional charges may be forthcoming, the office said.

Dickerson was arraigned Nov. 25 in Spotsylvania General District Court where he was held on no bond. He is currently being held at the Rappahannock Regional Jail.

At about 11 p.m. on Oct. 26, the victim, later identified as Morgan, was attempting to cross the 10900 block of Courthouse Road in Spotsylvania County when he was struck by a vehicle traveling in the east bound lanes of Courthouse Road. Upon deputies' arrival, several people were out with the victim, who had life threatening injuries. Morgan was taken to a local hospital where he died.

Five days later, another pedestrian was hit and killed by a car while crossing a Spotsylvania road. A 36-year-old man was killed Oct. 31 when he stepped in front of a car on Jefferson Davis Highway and was struck. The driver, who did not flee the scene, was not charged in that case.
