Both the driver and a witness traveling immediately behind the Chevrolet remained on the scene and waited for police to arrive. The driver and her 21-year-old male passenger were uninjured, police said.
No charges have been filed against the driver, and the police said they’re continuing to investigate the accident. The northbound lanes of Route 1 between Mary Washington Boulevard and Fall Hill Avenue were closed for more than an hour as police investigated the collision.
They have determined that speed was not a factor in the crash and the Chevrolet driver showed no signs of impairment, according to a police statement.
