Spotsylvania Sheriff: Have You Seen This Man?

Unidentified suspect wanted for attempted murder a year ago of convenience store clerk.

It has been one year since the March 8, 2014, shooting of an unarmed convenience store clerk in Spotsylvania County. “The Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office has received hundreds of Crime Solvers tips in reference to this incident,” Sheriff Roger L. Harris said in a statement. “However, we are still seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect in the photo.”

The suspect (in photo above) entered the Fas Mart on Brock Road and Plank Road shortly before 3 a.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2014. He approached the counter and asked the clerk for a smokeless tobacco product, possibly Grizzly Wintergreen.

When the female employee turned her back to the suspect, he pulled out a handgun and shot her in the back of the head. The suspect then grabbed a locked cabinet with ephedrine and ran out the front door, shooting the victim a second time on the way out.

The victim, though shot multiple times in the head, was able to call 911 before collapsing to the floor.

The suspect is described as a white male in his 30s, about 5 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 8 inches in height, with a reddish/brown in color beard or goatee. On the night of the robbery, he wore a black hoodie shirt, khaki pants and gloves.

Citizens must be aware that this suspect POSSIBLY has changed his appearance. Anyone having information relating to the identity of this suspect is asked to contact the Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office, your local law enforcement agency or Crime Solvers.
