Deputies interviewed the suspect and several other students who allegedly overheard the threats and determined the threats had been made. After a search of the suspect’s home, guns were found, but they were secured and locked. There was no evidence that there was a “manifesto” or any indication an actual attack was imminent, according to SCSO.

“The potential danger of this type of threat cannot be over stated,” said Sheriff Charles Jett. “The notification by concerned students and parents coupled with the immediate action by the Principal of Brooke Point High School to the School Resource Officer initiated a timely response and investigation that resulted in an arrest. ”
