UMW Professor Receives Fulbright Specialist Program Grant

UMW professor to travel to Tunisian University to help develop Master's Program.

A University of Mary Washington professor will join over 400 academics and researchers this year as they travel as recipients of the Fulbright Specialists Program.

Mukesh Srivastava, UMW College of Business associate dean and a management information systems associate professor, received a Fulbright Specialist Grant for 2011-2012.  The Fulbright awards are presented based on academic or professional achievement and this is the first awarded to a member of UMW’s College of Business.

Srivastava will be using the grant to help faculty at Tunis Business School develop and implement a new information technology Master’s program at Tunis University in Tunisia during the month of October.

“This grant gives us the opportunity to share expertise developed in graduate programs at Mary Washington and to learn more about how other international universities are engaging their business schools,” said Srivastava in a UMW press release. “It also will expand the global reach of UMW through the development of student and faculty exchanges and research collaborations with Tunis Business School.”

The Fulbright Specialist Program was created in 2000 to facilitate opportunities for sharing curriculum and faculty developments between colleges and universities here and abroad.  Srivastava’s work will open the door for future collaborations between the United States and Tunisia, such as increased student exchanges, visiting faculty, and study abroad programs.
