3 Residents Displaced After Groveton Apartment Fire
No injuries resulted from the bedroom fire that drew a response from Fairfax County and Alexandria firefighters.

GROVETON, VA — Three people were displaced from apartments after a fire in Groveton Sunday, according to Fairfax County Fire and Rescue. There were no injuries.
Firefighters from Fairfax County and Alexandria responded to the three-story, garden style apartment in the 6300 block of South Kings Highway around 9:21 a.m. The fire was located and extinguished in an apartment bedroom.
There were no residents home in the unit when the fire broke started, but around 20 people were in the building. A resident had discovered the fire upon returning home, and a neighbor called 911.

Investigators determined the cause of the fire was incense inside a candle, which ignited and spread to nearby combustibles. The fire department estimated damages to be $20,000. Smoke alarms activated after the fire was found.
The displaced residents have accepted Red Cross assistance.
