• Vietnam War Medal of Honor recipient Bruce 'Snake' Crandall dies at 93 (wearethemighty.com) — Fort Belvoir gets a poignant mention as the place where Bruce “Snake” Crandall completed Engineer Officer Candidate School before his legendary Vietnam War service. The Medal of Honor helicopter pilot, later portrayed in “We Were Soldiers,” has died at 93 after a decorated career that included hundreds of combat missions and numerous honors. His passing leaves just 63 living Medal of Honor recipients.
