Police Catch Armed Carjacking And Robbery Suspect In Richmond Highway Corridor
Fairfax County Police say a carjacking happened in the same parking lot where the armed suspect robbed another victim.

GROVETON, VA — A police pursuit of an armed robbery and carjacking suspect provided successful late Tuesday in Fairfax County's Richmond Highway corridor.
On late Tuesday, police responded to an armed robbery in the 3000 block of Furman Lane in the Groveton area. Police say an armed man wearing a ski mask approached the victim in an apartment parking lot and demanded keys and wallet. The suspect fled with the items without taking the car.
As police were searching the area for the suspect, a second victim reported a carjacking to police. According to police, that victim was removing items from his 2001 BMW 330I in the same parking lot when the suspect pointed a gun and demanded his keys. The suspect directed the victim to drive away from the area and stop near Furman Lane and Kings Highway before forcing the victim out.

An officer spotted the stolen BMW on Richmond Highway near Franklin Street in Groveton. As police approached, the suspect reportedly fled with a gun. He was arrested after a short foot pursuit. Police recovered the gun and the victims' stolen property.

Malik Kamara, 19, of Woodbridge, was charged with robbery with a firearm, carjacking with a firearm, abduction and two counts of use of a firearm in the commission of a felony. He was held without bond.
