Barricade Of Man Vehicle Resolved In Belle Haven: Police

The George Washington Memorial Parkway will reopen in the Belle Haven area as police resolved a person in crisis.

BELLE HAVEN, VA — Fairfax County Police have peacefully resolved a barricade incident Thursday on the George Washington Memorial Parkway in Belle Haven.

According to police, the barricade involved a man experiencing a mental health crisis in a vehicle at George Washington Memorial Parkway and Belle Haven Road. Police said the man was safely taken into custody and will be provided with resources.

The incident temporarily closed the George Washington Memorial Parkway is closed in both directions. Police said the parkway would reopen shortly. Delays were starting to build as of 11:35 a.m., according to a Metropolitan Area Transportation Operations Coordination tweet.
