Bike Lanes Proposals Considered In Groveton, Hybla Valley
Bike lanes on Fordson Road and Farmington Drive have been moved up for consideration this year during VDOT's repaving program.

HYBLA VALLEY, VA — Two roads in the Richmond Highway corridor are now being considered for bike lanes during the Virginia Department of Transportation's repaving program.
In Groveton, a bike lane and shared lane markings are proposed on Farmington Drive between Telegraph Road and Edgehill Drive.
In Hybla Valley, bike lanes are proposed on Fordson Road between Mount Vernon Plaza and Richmond Highway. That would restrict most on-street parking south of Cyrene Boulevard, which is located north of the shopping center. Existing on-street parking and commercial vehicle parking restrictions would remain north of Cyrene Boulevard on Fordson Road. In addition, new crosswalks across Fordson Road are proposed at Cyrene Boulevard and the Mount Vernon Plaza entrance at McDonald's.

The Virginia Department of Transportation repaves hundreds of Fairfax County roads each year. The Fairfax County Department of Transportation coordinates with VDOT during repaving and restriping to implement measures for traffic safety and enhanced transportation options.
Restriping proposals for Farmington Drive and Fordson Road were originally deferred until 2023. The Fairfax County Department of Transportation said the proposals are "now possible due to a lower re-bid on the paving contract." If approved, the repavings would happen between September 2022 and June 2023.
