Carluccio's Closes In Old Town Alexandria

If you walk by the Alexandria waterfront, you'll notice the Italian restaurant and market Carluccio's has closed its doors.

ALEXANDRIA, VA — If you have stop by the Alexandria waterfront, you may notice one of its staple restaurants has shut its doors. The United Kingdom-based Carluccio's closes its two DC area locations, including the King Street restaurant in Old Town Alexandria, Washington Business Journal reported.

The closure of the Alexandria and Rockville, Md. locations effectively closes all U.S. Carluccio's locations.

“After a careful review of our U.S. performance we have decided to close our two restaurants in the area," a Carluccio's spokesperson told Washington Business Journal. "While trading was encouraging, the competitive nature of the U.S. market meant margins were lower than anticipated and lower than other markets.”
