Man Found Dead In Groveton Apartment: Police
Police say a man was found dead with an apparent gunshot wound in an apartment.
GROVETON, VA — Fairfax County Police are investigating a homicide Tuesday in Groveton.
Officers responded to the 3100 block of Southgate Drive around 7:12 p.m. after a relative found the victim with gunshot wounds. Officers found the man in an apartment with apparent upper body gunshot wounds, and he was pronounced dead on the scene. He was identified as Ronald Worthy Jr., 19, of Alexandria. The medical examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.
Police do not believe the incident was random. A police investigation determined a relative last saw Worthy Tuesday morning. Several residents said they heard gunshots in the early afternoon hours, but no calls were received by the Fairfax County dispatch. Police recovered cartridge cases inside the apartment but did not find clear signs of forced entry.
