Drain Flies and Mice Droppings: Greater Alexandria Inspections

Greater Alexandria restaurants were cited for mouse droppings, flies and more in the most recent round of inspections.

GREATER ALEXANDRIA, VA — Fairfax County regularly conducts health inspections for local restaurants. The frequency of inspections on the type of food served and how it is prepared.

“In our experience, it is unrealistic to expect that a complex, full-service food operation can routinely avoid any violations,” states the Virginia Department of Health’s website.

Here are some of the violations from Greater Alexandria inspections in September. Among the violations were mouse droppings and drain flies in the food prep area at Springfield's Food Corner Kabob.

violations: raw meat stored over ready-to-eat food, lettuce and sliced tomato cold holding at improper temperatures (both corrected), food stored on floor in walk-in cooler, cooler not operating properly, accumulation of debris on non-food contact surfaces, drain flies and mice droppings in food prep area, floors under kitchen equipment in need of cleaning
