HUNTINGTON, VA — A driver has been charged in a July 6 hit-and-run crash on Richmond Highway, according to Fairfax County Police.

The crash happened around 10:20 p.m. July 6 on Richmond Highway near Huntington Avenue. Police say the pedestrian was struck outside a crosswalk in a dimly lit area by a southbound vehicle. Detectives determined a 2007 dark-green Toyota Camry was involved in the crash. Although the driver did not stop at the scene, the driver notified a 911 dispatcher of his involvement. Police did not initially believe speed or alcohol were factors in the crash.

Detectives obtained warrants to charge Diego Juarez Gomez, 19, of Maryland with felony hit-and-run and driving without a license. He turned himself in on July 7 at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center.
