Driver Eludes Police, Crashes Car Into Pole: Police

Alexandria area man is charged with DWI 3rd Offense, police say.

Fairfax County Police say that a traffic stop turned into a car chase and eventually a crash in the overnight hours Monday.

An officer operating a marked police cruiser attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation Monday at about 2:18 a.m. at Elkin Street near Linton Lane (see Google map above), according to police. The driver of the vehicle disregarded the officer’s signal to stop and attempted to elude him, police said.

The driver lost control of the vehicle near the 8700 block of Stockton Parkway, a road that runs along Little Hunting Creek, where he sideswiped a parked vehicle and struck a power pole, ending the pursuit, police said.
