DRP Belle Haven: Serving Up Dessert at the 'Custard Shack'

After opening earlier this year across the street from the Belle Haven Country Club’s golf course, DRP Belle Haven appears to have become quite a success, judging from a visit this weekend and its online reviews.

The restaurant is described by the owners as the Southern outpost of Del Ray Pizzeria located in Alexandria’s Del Ray neighborhood.

Sunday night, the place was pleasantly packed. The wait and bar staff as well as the host were all friendly and helpful. Our sausage, mushroom and balsamic onion thin pizza and From the Garden salad were top notch. The menu highlights pizza as the main event, but also serves up a variety of burgers, nachos, steak, wings, jambalaya and more. You can wash your meal down with any number of libations from an extensive menu.

The only problem? The place is so popular you might not find a parking spot in the lot; you can try parking on the street or after hours at the building lot next door. The restaurant building, now renovated, once housed the also popular Pat’s Market.

DRP Belle Haven’s Yelp reviews give it four out of five stars. On Facebook, the eatery ranks a 4.7 out of 5 from 21 reviews.

And starting just recently, you can grab a little dessert next door at the Custard Shack. You place your order at the window on the right and pick it up at the window on the left. There are picnic tables where you can sit and enjoy a rootbeer float, a shake or a sundae.
