Fairfax County Public Schools Change Schedule For March 20

Afternoon and evening activities are cancelled at Fairfax County Public Schools.

Due to the impending winter storm, Fairfax County Public Schools has cancelled afternoon and evening activities on school campuses. There is no early dismissal for the regular school day.

Cancelled activities include extracurricular activities, interscholastic contests, team practices, field trips, middle school after-school programs, professional learning and training courses, adult and community education classes, recreation programs and outside use by community groups. School Age Child Care Centers are open until 6:15 p.m. Families should pick up their children as soon as possible after the school day ends.

Fairfax County is under a winter storm warning from 2 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday. The Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang forecast calls for 2 to 5 inches of snow in much of Fairfax County, while the northern part of the county could see 6 to 12 inches. The rain is beginning to turn to sleet and then snow along the Interstate 95 corridor through Tuesday afternoon.

FCPS will make a weather decision for Wednesday, March 21 by 9 p.m.
