A Few Good Men and DNA: School Edition at West Potomac
Beyond the Page Theatre Company at West Potomac High School will bring two plays to the stage, A Few Good Men and DNA: School Edition.
Following an exciting run of the hit musical Dogfight, Art that Matters 2: Human Struggle will continue to bring important issues and powerful stories to the forefront of the community. With A Few Good Men, the struggle the marines face to adhere to a strict code and the struggles faced by the female member of the defense team to be seen as an equal are brought to light. In DNA: School Edition, guilt is an evident issue that most of the characters must struggle with. Beyond The Page Theatre Company is excited to continue the legacy of American Idiot and bring the community meaningful and impactful theatre.
The winter season begins January 18th with the opening of A Few Good Men, an electrifying courtroom drama that centers around the murder of a marine in Guantanamo Bay. A hot-headed Navy lawyer and the members of his defense team struggle to uncover a conspiracy that spreads much farther than Cuba, and threatens to shake the military to its core. In this 1989 classic written by the legendary Aaron Sorkin and later adapted as a screenplay by Rob Reiner, we quickly discover that the two marines charged with murder are not the only ones on trial.
Two weeks later beginning on February 1st, DNA: School Edition will bring group morality front and center, following the story of a group of teenage girls as they try to cover up their huge mistake. The play is a door into the minds of the girls as they fall deeper into their lies. Every lie brings another girl into the cover up, bringing each to do things they never would have done before. The coverup brings them together in a way no one ever expect, or even wanted. Written by Dennis Kelly, this intense play will keep the audience wondering if anything will ever be the same.
