Fires Set At Beacon Hill Apartments, Information Sought

Investigators traced the fires to an incendiary device at one location and an ignitable liquid at another.

GROVETON, VA — Fire investigators are seeking information after two potential arson cases at Beacon Hill Apartments in the Groveton area between Oct. 12 and 14.

Firefighters responded to the first fire at 1:18 a.m. on Oct. 12 in the 3300 block of Southgate Drive. Investigators determined an "improvised incendiary device" had been placed and ignited against an apartment door.

The second incident was reported around 12:33 a.m. on Oct. 14 in the 6600 block of Tower Drive. Investigators located an ignitable liquid in the stairwell. Both fires were immediately put out and did not displace any residents.
