Food Stolen From Early Childhood Education Center In Woodlawn

After thousands of dollars worth of food was stolen from a KinderCare center, police made sure the kids had food for the day.

WOODLAWN, VA — An early childhood education and daycare center in Woodlawn was the target of a theft Monday, according to Fairfax County Police.

The burglary was reported to police around 6:20 a.m. at the KinderCare, 4287 Buckman Road, Alexandria, VA. Police say a person forced entry into the center, damaging the property and stealing thousands of dollars worth of food.

Police believe the burglary happened over the weekend, and Criminal Investigation Division detectives collected evidence from the scene. The investigation is active as detectives canvass the area for potential surveillance footage from neighboring businesses.

Despite the significant amount of food missing, the kids at KinderCare didn't have to go hungry. Police provided breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snacks for the center Monday.
