Groveton Residents Lose Apartment In Fire

No one was injured in the fire, but the apartment is uninhabitable for the two residents.

GROVETON, VA—Two Groveton residents lost their apartment in a house fire Monday afternoon. No one was injured in the apartment fire reported in the 6500 block of Tower Drive.

Firefighters from Fairfax County and Alexandria responded to the fire around 1:38 p.m. The four-story building had smoke coming from the roof, and firefighters quickly located and put out a small kitchen fire in a third floor apartment.

A neighbor reported the fire since neither of the residents were home. Investigators say the fire ignited from an electrical malfunction within a double wall switch extending into the wall.
