Groveton Stabbing: Money Being Raised For Victim's Family
The victim of a stabbing in Groveton leaves behind two children. Friends and family are raising money for funeral expenses.
GROVETON, VA—After a man died in a fatal stabbing in Groveton over the weekend, friends and family are rallying to support his two children and other loved ones.
Police found Luis Bonilla, 24, in the woods near 7100 block of Fairchild Drive Friday night. He was pronounced dead on the scene. Police do not know how long Bonilla was there.
Since then GoFundMe accounts have popped up to cover funeral expenses and support Bonilla's children. Remaz Abdelgader, who says she is a friend from high school, says her fundraising will go directly to Bonilla's children. She wrote on the page, "If you knew [Luis] you knew that he always had a kind smile on his face. I remember [Luis] smiling at me from our middle school/high school days. I'm so sorry to hear that you're gone man." Bonilla's family has also started a campaign Sunday to cover funeral expenses. The campaign's goal is to raise $7,000.
