Man Armed With Samurai Swords Arrested In Hybla Valley

Officers used a Taser when the man began swinging two Samurai swords at them, Fairfax County Police say.

HYBLA VALLEY, VA—Police arrested a man in Hybla Valley that swung Samurai-style swords at officers Saturday night.

Around 8:40 p.m., police were responding to a report of a man yelling and knocking over trash cans in the 3100 block of Sherwood Hall Lane.

Police say the man started swining the two swords at officer when they arrived. They were unsuccessful in trying to talk with him, leading to the officers using a Taser so he would drop the swords.

The officers took the man into custody, and he received medical treatment for his injuries.

Eric Perez, 19 from the Alexandria area of the county, was charged charged with brandishing, disorderly conduct, and trespassing. He will appear in court April 23.

It wasn't Perez's first encounter with police this month. Court records indicate he was cited for interfering with traffic as a pedestrian on Feb. 10.
