Man Trespassing At West Potomac Arrested After Wild Chase
A struggle and chase ensued when a school resource officer tried to arrest the man.

BELLE HAVEN, VA—Fairfax County Police say an incident of trespassing at West Potomac High School escalated into an assault on an officer and chase Wednesday.
Around 8:27 a.m., a school resource officer at West Potomac saw a man who was banned from the property. When the man approached, the officer told him he was under arrest. From there, the man pushed the officer and ran away when the officer attempted to handcuff him.
Police say the man pushed and struggled with the officer several times, which resulted in a chase. A second officer arrived to get the man into custody. No one was injured during the arrest.

Steven Deras Canales, 18, of Alexandria, was arrested and charged with assault on a law enforcement officer, trespassing and possession of marijuana.
Police did not indicate if the accused is a student and why he was banned from school property.
