Richmond Highway Crash in Alexandria: Medical Helicopter Lands for Injured

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA -- Five people were injured Friday afternoon after a major crash on Richmond Highway, according to police. A medical helicopter landed to take the injured to an area hospital, police said.

Officials were on the scene of the crash on Richmond Highway and Buckman Road Friday afternoon at rush hour in the Alexandria section of Fairfax County.

The helicopter landed in a parking lot near the scene.

Police said at about 5:30 p.m. that the area would be tied up for some time while crash reconstruction unit detectives examine the scene.
