MOUNT VERNON, VA—The Virginia Department of Transportation will hold a public meeting on Richmond Highway corridor improvements Tuesday, March 26. The public is invited to provide input and ask questions, particularly on proposed bicyclists and pedestrian improvements.

The meeting will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the auditorium/cafeteria (entrance 4) at Mount Vernon High School, 8515 Old Mount Vernon Road, Alexandria. A presentation will begin at 7 p.m.

The entire project involves widening three miles of Richmond Highway from four to six lanes between Jeff Todd Way and Sherwood Hall Lane. The project will include pedestrian and bicycle accommodations on both side of the road, and the median will be reserved for Fairfax County's separate Bus Rapid Transit project. Of note, VDOT is looking for feedback on the design and proposed underpasses for bicyclists and pedestrians at Dogue Creek and Little Hunting Creek.
