MOUNT VERNON, VA — A motorcyclist died in a crash on Jeff Todd Way in Mount Vernon Saturday, according to Fairfax County Police.

The crash happened around 10:15 a.m. on Jeff Todd Way near Mill Towns Court. Detectives believe drivers of a 2019 Kawasaki sport bike, Ducati sport bike and 2019 Chevrolet Camaro were stopped at the intersection of Jeff Todd Way and Richmond Highway and accelerated westbound when the light turned green.

The motorcyclists attempted to pass a 2013 Acura TL but the Ducati driver hit the right side of the Acura and hit the rear of a Fairfax Connector bus stopped in the right lane at a bus stop. The crash with the bus caused the motorcycle and rear of the bus to catch fire. The Kawasaki drive lost control of the motorcycle, which fell on its side and slid to a stop nearby.
