MOUNT VERNON, VA — A City of Alexandria resident has been identified as the victim of a homicide in Mount Vernon, Fairfax County Police say.

The body of Micale Kebede, 31, was found near a bridge at Old Mill Road and Gateshead Road Wednesday evening. The police department's Victim Services Division is assisting his family with resources.

The death investigation started when a person walking a dog found the body. It was reclassified into a homicide investigation when an autopsy determined the victim suffered upper body trauma. Police do not believe the incident was random, and there isn't an ongoing threat to the public.
