Mount Vernon Native Named Virginia's 2019 Cherry Blossom Princess

Last year's U.S. Cherry Blossom Queen was chosen from Virginia. This year, Natalie Revers will represent the state.

The Society of Virginia has named Mount Vernon native Natalie Revers the 2019 Cherry Blossom Princess. She will represent Virginia during the National Conference of State Societies' Cherry Blossom Princess Program, part of DC's National Cherry Blossom Festival.

"I am thrilled to participate in this year’s Cherry Blossom program," said Revers in a statement. "Virginia has been home to many generations of my family and I thank you for the opportunity to represent our state in this historic festival."

Revers, 22, now lives in Arlington but grew up close to George Washington's Mount Vernon. A financial analyst for the Wells Fargo Commercial Real Estate Group, she is part of the Young Real Estate Professionals of Washington, DC (YREP-DC) and volunteers at Martha’s Table.

She graduated from the College of William and Mary in 2018 with a degree in Finance and Chinese. As a college student, she volunteered for a Court Appointed Special Advocate Program in Williamsburg to raise money for neglected children in the social service and legal systems. She also attended Tsinghua University in Beijing on a scholarship. Revers is a 2014 graduate of St. Stephen’s and St. Agnes School in Alexandria.

"We are delighted that Natalie will be representing Virginia," said Lorraine Barclay Nordlinger, president of the Society of Virginia. "We are very impressed with Natalie’s poise and warmth and her proven love of Asian culture, as well as her commitment to the many organizations to which she’s contributed her talents."

The Society of Virginia will hold its Crowning Luncheon on Saturday, March 9 from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the Washington Golf and Country Club in Arlington. The event is ticketed, but all are invited to attend.

Princesses are selected to represent each U.S. state and territory at the Cherry Blossom Princess Program. Each is selected based on leadership, character, academic achievements and interest in social, civic, community and world affairs, as expressed in an essay and interview. The program includes a congressional reception, visits with international dignitaries, the Cherry Blossom Grand Ball, the National Cherry Blossom Parade and other activities throughout the week.

During the ball, one Princess is selected at random to become the U.S. Cherry Blossom Queen and travel on a goodwill trip to Japan in May. The reigning U.S. Cherry Blossom Queen, Margaret O’Meara, was the representative for Virginia and also hails from the greater Alexandria area.

The 71st Cherry Blossom Princess Program will be held April 7-14 in Washington, DC.
