Next Free Grocery Markets For Government Workers On Jan. 26
Thousands of federal workers and contractors utilized the free grocery markets during the first weekend alone.

WASHINGTON, DC—As the federal government shutdown reached a month, the Capital Area Food Bank will hold a third weekend of free grocery markets to help families in need. The markets are planned for Saturday, Jan. 26, one day after President Trump said a deal has been reached that would reopen the federal government for three weeks and end the partial shutdown.
The grocery markets are at seven locations, including two places in Northern Virginia. The markets are open to federal government workers and federal contractors affected by the shutdown. A federal government employment ID or federal contractor ID must be shown to receive groceries.
The markets are held at six Giant locations from 9 a.m.-11 a.m. Produce, groceries and frozen meals will be available. In addition, Gainesville United Methodist Church will host a market with groceries and household/hygiene items from noon-2 p.m.
