Nonprofit Assists Local Elementary Schools With Clothing

Assistance League of Northern Virginia's Clothing Program Helps Meet Basic Needs

Several caring members of Assistance League of Northern Virginia met recently to assemble new clothing items for the 8 elementary schools it serves in Fairfax and Prince William Counties and Alexandria City. After receiving input from the schools regarding the sizes needed for boys and girls, the bargain-conscious members found great deals on the requested sweatpants and sweatshirts, leggings, long-sleeved T-shirts, underwear, and socks. A packing list for each school was prepared showing the school’s request to guide volunteers in selecting the items and packing them for delivery. In all, nearly 800 items of clothing were provided in October, in addition to the delivery of nearly 600 items to those same schools in September.

Assistance League wants to thank the Dunbarton Hugs Team for donating the underwear and socks they collected. Special thanks also to Potomac River Running for donating racing shirts that were also delivered to the schools. Assistance League will soon deliver winter jackets and hand-made hats and scarves to these 8 schools so students will be ready for the cold winter months.
