Online Lottery Play Leads To Top Prize For Alexandria Man
An Alexandria resident became the first Big Money Jackpot top prize winner of the Virginia Lottery.
ALEXANDRIA, VA — Whether you head to the local store or a lottery ticket or try the new online games, it's all the same when you score a big prize. An Alexandria man did just that, earning the first top prize in the Big Money Jackpot online games.
James Matthews doesn't frequent the Virginia lottery's online games. However, he decided to give the Big Money Jackpots online games a try after seeing a promotional email. He scored $1,500 playing online games, but that was just the beginning of his luck. A few days later, he scored $108,512 playing the Prospector’s Gold game on his device.
"It’s exciting. It’s a nice surprise," he told Virginia Lottery officials.

Prospector’s Gold and Cash Buster Multiplier are instant play games that share three continuously growing jackpots. Lottery players 18 and older can access the game on their computer or mobile device physically anywhere in Virginia. Powerball, Mega Millions and Cash4Life are also available for purchase online.
