Online Sale Becomes Armed Robbery In Groveton

A man trying to sell his cellphone instead was threatened with a gun and robbed Thursday afternoon in Groveton.

GROVETON, VA—An online sale took a turn for the worse when buyer ended up pulling a gun on the seller Thursday afternoon in Groveton.

The two had met around 1:20 p.m. in the 7200 block of Harrison Lane to make the exchange. The seller had placed an ad online for a cell phone and accessories. The suspect asked to see the phone, and that's when he displayed the gun.

The suspect fled with the phone and did not injure the victim.
